THE TIME OF MY LIFE.step camp 2008 - 19 june to 25 june 2008
really the best thing that has every happened to me!(:
made many new friends, and gained alot of new perspectives on many things.
shall try not to be loso and squish the whole camp in this small blog!(:
ahahhah
19th june! arrived at terminal 1 early in the morning. then realised we waited in the wrong terminal for 1hr plus. wahahah. hurried down to t2 by skytrain and picked them up. it was very nerve wrecking cos. well. meeting 10 strangers and befriending them like,immediately is not that easy. cos you dont know the person!(: but all the smiles made me feel better, and not keep thinking:
"sheet.i wanna go home!):" anyway. i found my partner, ham(: hahah she seemed nice, smiled sweetly and all, but didnt talk much.
maybe shy lah, i thought.
reached the camp after passing places like the singapore flyer and vivo(: ate a good lunch and headed off to play ice breaker games! our facilitator, IVAN, told us the story of Nak Kae, which is supposed to mean plenty in thai, however, when porpor translated it, it became old face-.-" anyway. kae on itself was GAY QUEEN, which eventually became ivan's nickname(: heehee. so we played many games like ouch(: hahah so cool like. i get to beat ms kuah! LOL. haha no lah. and games like duck duck goose. heehee. we played the hold on to the rope blindfolded and count on your partner game.hahah! i did it twice, once with ham and the other with ms kuah.bwaahhaa. when i was blindfolded, the cameraman caught me walking-.-" so tooot. hahha! so unglam!:/ anyway. when ms kuah was blindfolded, it was super fun! hahha like. i get to disturb her. cos there was this noisy drain that we walked pass. then i brought ms kuah to the drain and said: "step!" then so loud okay the sound!BWAHAHA. then after that it was her turn to disturb me. she poked my nose-.-" waaahha. that game was pretty fun(:
after all of that, we went for dinner and slept i think. the tkgians couldnt sleep, so 8 of us crammed into vaish's and my bed to crap. wahaha! it was cool, cos you dont squeeze on 2 beds with 8 other people you dont know that well and crap until 12 midnight that often,do you?((((: after that. we crapped for quite long alr. and ivan was doing his rounds to make sure we were all sleeping. haha. he walked pass the big window and almost missed us. we froze. then he walked backwards! we all pretended to sleep (but obviously, that didnt work-.-" ) ahaha. he opened the door and
"girls.." we all laughed lah. and properly went to sleep(:
20th june!we woke up super early! and went up to the hall for the stupidest morning excercise ever! like. sing my bonny lies over the ocean and bend down whenever there was a B-word. sooo pain! it made my legs wobbly and strained for the rest of the camp. waaahh! haha. went down for breakfast, we were the cleaning team(: so we got to eat first. after that, we were supposed to set up the cleaning tubs and collect the teachers' plates and wash it for them. actually, all the thai students hogged the work and fought with us. cos. they want to wash! like... so wierddd. anyway, at that time, we were learning thai, eg. "in-di-ti-lai-lu-zha" which means nice to meet you(: hahas. and 1 to 10 in thai(: so cool!(: wahahas. i've learnt so many thai words!:D bwahahas.
after breakfast was the human ladder. the one that caused sooo much suffering. waah! like. all the buddy pairs had to hold on to 1 stick and let people climb over it. that caused me to get bruises ALL over both shins. but, can say that we all overcomed some of our fears(: and we knew that our friends were there to support us,thats why we made it to the end!
lunch came, and in the afternoon was the rope elements course!(: hahas. the safety briefing was hilarious! hahas. ivan was the "MODEL" like lol. the way he wore the harness was SUPER KAEEEEEE! and the goofy sunglasses and bandanna. but he did the rock wall climb quite pro lah. rock walls arent easy:/ we started with the course which is about 2 storeys high, and its just like a rope to walk on, and 2 ropes forming a cross to hold on to. me, aud,jiening, ham, tennis, porpor, nam and some other ppl didnt go on that one as there wasnt time. but. it looked scary.... we moved on to abseiling!(: haha. when you're at the bottom, you wont think its that high. but when you're up there looking down, its freaking frightening!! like. 3 storeys high and your life is in your hands. waaaah. and the gloves were pretty disgusting. wahaha. but i was glad i got to do it!(: heehee. ms ricca and ms kuah went too! audrey and me took video of them! hahah sooo cool!(: esp ms kuah. like everyone was watching. cos we were doing massage. and we turned in the direction of ms kuah. she was wearing black. and they way she did it made it look like 007:D anyway. my point was. that the whole camp watched her abseil. bwahahahha! but very cool(: we're putting the video in the powerpoint presentation! if possible(: hehes. after that, ham had headache so me and audrey couldnt do the zipline)))): anyway the queue was too long. so stayed in the dorm eating:X haha not supposed to eat. anyway. wasted 1hr in the dorm not really doing anything.
later that night, it was a BBQ dinner!(: it was fun starting our own fire,actually no, seeing lvan do all the work for us. hahaha. cos he's the only guy what! haha. and then yvonne was protecting him. haha like
:"aiyoh you all ahh let ivan do all the work you all just stand there!" wahahahs! we went to play fishing net(: hahah its a very very fun game they have in thailand! porpor taught us. yeah we had alot of fun(: ohh. we were like worshipping the fire! hey. it works okay. the thing goes smt like :
su-lu-sam-ba-lu--su-lu-ba-li-kaa and repeats and repeats. well. it helped to get the fire going(: finally dinner was ready. we chao-dar-ed so many sausages. hahahahh! it was an okay dinner,and many of the thai girls experienced their FIRST FISHBALL. and first bbq dinner(: so cool(: like. showing them singaporean food. what we find so normal and common is like. something so new for them(((: pretty cool.
after that we rushed to the toilet to bathe. ohh! pen and pla did the BEST MODELLING SHOW EVER! haha they modelled around the bedroom and it was just hilarious!!! ms kuah and yvonne came in to watch it too(: we caught a video of it.hahaha really funny lahhh! wahahas. this really helped us to bond and break whatever ice was left between all of us and we became really great friends:D
21 june!slept well the night before, and we woke up super early, again. actually, its just so that we can take our own sweet time to brush teeth and change, and so that we'll have the cleanest toilet.bwahaha. kiasu. the morning was eventful. Ivan and yvonne ganged up against us. guess what they made us do. WASH TOILET. waaaaah. it was the first time for many of us, including me. it was disgusting yet fun at the same time. the hair in the drains was like, hair from a mini gorilla! gosh. very freaky. porpor was the bravest one who took out the hair. gosh. blehh quite sickk. anyway, accomplishing our task was a nice feeling:D wahahas.
we went back to the dorm and gave each other thai names! my thai name is PIM(; its just a nice name in thai, doesnt really mean anything much. just nice, i know another girl from another group with the name pim as well. jiening is pear, and i cant rmb the rest lehh. ms kuah is MS RUNG. rung is rainbow in thai(: feminine!:D hahas. ms ricca just wanted ms hippo cos when she was young, her friends used to call her a hippo. wahaha. anyway. when we all told ivan about it, and i said i was pim, his reply was:
" YOU'RE A PIMP?!" HAHA. lol!
we got changed and suited up for the afternoon and changi coast adventure center for kayaking!(: heehee. i was looking quite forward to it. the kayaks were heavy man. ms kuah had to help me carry. the floating excercise was super fun! we all held hands and floated with our life jackets on. hahaha. never did that before, but really fun:D whee(: going out into sea to kayak was scary at first, cos ham never kayak before. so must tell her when to left right left right. but we got the hang of it soon. we kayaked for i think 1hr plus, when ham started to get abit sea sick. me too lah, cos the life jacket was squeezing me until i couldnt really breathe. we left after that, drained of 90% of our energy. went for a shower, and heard that there were many things floating around....... eeyerrr. had a drink and a rushed ice cream!(: my ice cream didnt want to melt, so i took like super long to gnaw through it. everyone was leaving for the bus alr i was still gnawwwwing it. thankfully, ms kuah and ms ricca waited for this little princess gnawwwwwing onto her ice cream. and helped her throw the stick and wipe her mouth. GOSH. I FELT SO BAD OKAYYY. like. everything ms kuah do for me so i could have an ice cream:XXX
waaah. anyway after that all the TKGians decided to pay for the ice cream(: it was $7. for 16 ice creams. haha. we took sooooooooooo long for ms kuah to accept the money. we shoved it in her hand, into her pocket, into ms ricca's hand etc. in the end, we faked it was a present from the thai girls and we asked sung to wrap it nicely and give it to her. hha. it shocked her(: yay but in the end, she accepted the money. me and vanessa took so long to get her to accept it. this was our conversation:

me and vanessa: NO.
ms kuah: i really want to strangle you all lehhhh!
me and vanessa: strangle lah! as long as you accept the money(:

hahah,finally! she took it.
okay.after we got back, we didnt have time to rest at all! in fact, we almost died cos ivan made us perform a skit about the story of nak kae.so im promt to, no time. furthermore, we had serving duty for the VIPs. we were like: WHATTTTTT! anyway, we had 3 drama girls with us. hahahha. i played the kid, together with jiening, sung, audrey? and dunno who lah. all we had to do was to erm.. cry. haha. fake one lah. make noise can alr. hahaha! the performance went quite well, considering that we didnt even rehearse and only planned it in 5mins. we were impressed ourselves(: hahahs.
THE CAMPFIRE!was the best thing in the whole camp! hahah. the teachers' performance really made me loose my voice. hhaah. we were all screaming for ms kuah and ms ricca! like.cos ms kuah was DANCING,and cos she wore a flower in her hair. hahahha too feminine!:D waaah. we were thrilled(: at the end we screamed: MS KUAH! YOU'RE VERY FEMININE! haha which made her embarrassed i think. waah. but it was soooo entertaining!(: hahha. we did many campfire songs, learnt new ones etc. actually, the after party was the most FUN of it all. we got to do our dance to accidentally in love!!!! we had taught our thai partners before, and we all danced around the campfire, inviting everyone else to join along(: i felt on top of the world(((: hahas. we all held hands and ran around, formed a large worm and walked around(: hahaha! it was fun:D soon, the groups all split up to form circles where people would go inside and show off their moves. hahahah(: gosh ivan was sooo funny! like. very unexpected that a toot facil like him could dance pretty well!:D hahahah! ms kuah went in too, together with many of us. haha(: we danced to songs like LOW(FAVOURITE!), jenny, we're all in this together, and some thai songs like the someone someone song!hahaha that was a popular love song in thailand. hence, we made ivan and yvonne dance to it. BWAHAHAHA THEY HUGGED AND DANCED TOGETHER. hahahah it was soooo hilarious! we were all screaming in sheer excitement!:D so entertaining(: bwahahaas.we retreated to our dorms earlier, obviously,to rush for the toilet. whaahas. bathed and just had social time together, for it was the last night we would all be together in the camp. we felt sad and didnt want sunday to come cos then leaving LAC,where we all had so much fun together, would all vanish and become a mere sweet memory. lights off was at 12mn. but we never keep to lights off timing.we slept at 12.30am plus. haaahhas.
22 june!
our last day at camp. we woke up to morning calls from charlene and jiening, which went: SHOE SHOE SHOE SHOE RAIN WET SHOE SHOE! waah. hahas. it started to drizzle in the morning, so we helped to keep the shoes. when vanessa and 1 were going to the toilet, it started to rain very heavily. being kind souls we helped all the dorms to keep their shoes. and we also kept all the 10000 over wet clothes on the clothing lines.we chucked them into the general office and went to change. later that morning, we got commended by the camp commander for doing that.waahahhs.
the morning started with a horrible weather, and on top of that, THE HORRIBLEST BREAKFAST EVER. it was some sticky fat overcooked mee goreng with too much chilli and it tasted like ________. only the peanut ball thingy tasted very good(: [ ohh! i was thinking about that during english lesson today(: ] wahahahs.
we first went to the room to pack our bags, and for me, collect all the bed sheets and pillow cases. blehh. room i/c. haahhah. but ivan was nice, he helped me carry the bedsheets. WAHAHA. so i didnt have to carry. whee(:
then we proceded to the hall to paint the step puzzle to be exchanged with ssss's painting(: many accidents, like. spilling black paint on the floor, over painting the TK pinafore, making it look like some pyjama or smt. wahahahs. gosh. insulting:X hahah anyway, that day i was pretty sad that we had to go, so not much mood to paint a good painting:/ the outcome was okay, but the washing up wasnt really that okayy. we had to use kerosene to wash the paint off ( the paint used was wall paint-.-") ahh.my PE shirt kena red paint. haha look like bloooood(: hahahs. again, ms kuah had to baby sit me and clean my hands for me:///// gosh. guilty again.hahahs. at least we completed our painting!:DD
leaving was very sad,but never cry lah. it was a camp tradition that all campers do the "you are a gem to me because...." thing. so i gave 4 gems out, and collected 2 back. it was sweet, yet sad as it marked the end of the camp): we took a last photo with ivan and left for school. we all crowded around ivan during the last minute to say a huge THANK YOU IVAN and we left... we then realised that, even though ivan was pretty mean to make us wash toilets, serve vip when we have a performance to prepare for, made us perform, and do many other stuff that we were unwilling to do, we still thought that ivan was a great facilitator, and felt abit guilty for yelling and complaining at him. he said:" i appreaciate it that you girls are nice and do the things that i ask you all to do. you complain! but you still get it done in the end. so thats what i really appreaciated." after he said that we were like: "aiyah, we feel so sorry for treating him like 'poo' " ahh well. camp days were over,and we headed to school! we were high(:
the ride back to school was pretty lame. haahas. we got back to a familiar place and went HIGH. hahah. like: "traffic light!" ....* scream!* ..."taxi!" ...*screams!* ....."school gate!!!"...*screammmmssss!* and went olay..olay..olay..olay......olay.....olay.... hahahhaha! lols. got to use the HOD office toilet(: like so cool! they had flowers and proper tissues in it! and air con too.hahaha. when i saw mummy i screamed and almost scared ms terry and mrs sin off and ran to hug her.bwahahah. had a good lunch,food was much better compared to camp food. hahahs. fast forward...went home, slept, woke up, bathed, SINGAPORE FLYERRR
met audrey at the entrance, and went for a slow ride around the flyer. we were quite high, but its only 30 mins. took many pics but at night its basically lights so nothing much to see actually. should go in the day((: took many pictures. etc. went home to sleeeeeep! and prepare for school the next day.
23 june!
got to school early in the morning, introduced ham to many of my friends. then realised that we werent supposed to go upstairs:X ohh well. went down and up to the hall, sat infront, listened to endless speeches, and then came the speeches for PB EXCO 2008! hahah there were 15 of them, and only 12 can make it onto the board. i cheered for all lah(: hahah. it was entertaining.
headed to conference room for a second breakfast, and to class for lesson! haha had 2 periods, geog then english. it was those kind of waste time do nothing much kinda lessons. during recess, we all ran to the toilet and changed into clothes for sentosa!:D hahah! people were so jealous:X
went to chinatown, with this sucky guide:/ he cant pronouce stuff. like. peranakan became BANANAKAN. esplanade became ESPLAAANADE. british became BITISH. lol. and many more. we were more of pin pointing his pronounciation errors than listening. i laughed really hard during that trip cos of jie ning and ms kuah who was trying not to laugh. she bit her lip, breathe in air, and forced her mouth close and stuff. it made me laugh even more:X hahahah! but i did learn a few things on that trip lah. but.. ehh. cant rmb at the moment. hahahs. after that we went to marina bay to look at the merlion! hahas it was fun taking so many photos(: wahahas. after that, we went to hort park, which was pretty boring. its like a mini botanic gardens. but i think mummy might like it(: many pretty flowers there and orchids. hahahs. after that, we headed for SENTOSA! finally!
sentosa was great. seriously.
we went for the merlion!(: haha. took pictures at the head and mouth, got a fan. hahahs. ohh! and ms kuah got a call at the top of the merlion. then she said: "im not coming back for dinner." hahahah we all whoooooooo-ed her. then she showed us the caller ID: MUMMY. hahhahahahahhahahahah so LOL lah! hahahah.
went for the luge next. and really, once was never enough!:D haha. and the skyride was cool. me and aud sat with ms kuah and ms ingfa. ms ingfa was terrified! like. didnt want to let her hands off the bar. hahaahahs. oh and mrs sin was playful. she kept saying she dropped her slipper! like. then she took our her slipper and hid it in her bag. so she really came off the ride without a slipper! the guy there also asked if she dropped her slipper before or after the camera. that really made me believe lehh! gosh. then she took it out from her bag and i felt like a tellytubbie. so dumb. BOOOO. hahaha. cheat our feelings!:/ waaaah. hhahs.
headed back to the merlion area for dinner. it was a packed dinner, with duck, veggies and spoilt coleslaw. blehh. the veg sauce was nice lah. haha. the rest ate ice cream and then we headed off for songs of the sea!(: it was my first time watching the show. cos last time the one i watched was the musical fountain one. this one was really great!(: the combination of songs, light, laser, fire, and water was spectacular. just that the story was abit LOL. and it was so short. haahahas.
retreated back to the bus, but little did we know that the uncle brought us to a mystery destination. and guess what. we ended up going for a very late night jog at henderson waves. haha like. at 9.35pm, in some ulu park, running up and down, and there's school the next day! so wierd!:D hahah. so unexpected. we all held hands and ran together. the view on the bridge was very amazing though. made the steep run up pretty worth it(: hahahs. got home at maybe 11 plus. hahahs.
24 june!
tuesday! had PE in the morning with ms kuah as our teacher! while the rest of my class was running! 4 rounds for 2.4km. felt so bad! they were running, i was standing on a chair. and i didnt get to do height and weight. boo. i wanna know my height. weight dunno also can lah(: haahhas. captains ball was super fun!:DDD ham didnt play cos of her ankle, so ms kuah played for us(: haahahas! i think we won? i was the goalie. hahahahs. and runner for like 3 mins lah. haahhas. then went for a drink of water, and played monkey!(: hahah. standing up and sitting down. hahas. then the thai students showed us what they were really good at, something like zero point, but its like holding the rubberbands at head level and jumping over it. amazing, couldnt do it. pla was sooo good can! we were all saying that pla was the cooler and more outgoing version of marissa tang. and that she would be very very popular in our school((: hahas, true. anyway, after that, we spent time at the void deck looking at our dresses for that evening's dinner. hahahs. we put our dresses on ms kuah! so awkward:/ hahaha. hahahs.
headed off to mustafa, and then had some problems with the ez link cards. hahaha. lol. solved it anyway, and shopped for about 2 hrs. i think it was all the thai girls highlight!(: even though they already live in a shopping heaven-.-" hahahs. pla spent $70.30! like woah! on chocolates and souvieners. i spent $18.50. hahahahh. rock chocolates for jiejie(: ahahahs. after that we all rushed home. actually, we wanted to go home straight, but then, silly me left my dress in school. so karen and me and our buddies had to go back to school first-.-" blehhh. if not for the dress, i could sleep?:X anyway. spent 1/2 hr at home, ate instant noodles for lunch. hahah cheapskate? Nooo. they dont have cup noodles in thailand((((((((: hahahhaha! try singaporean food!:D so smart hor. hahaha! got changed into my dress and walked the hardest walk ever to temasek bus stop.in dress and high heels, i walked for what seemed like hrs to the bus stop where karen's grandfather would pick me and ham up. ahhhh! temasek sec students just came out of school-.-" like. they went WOOOOOOOOOWWWWWW when they walked pass. i was like. so maluated. hahaa.
reached school, and everyone looked stunning in formal wear(: charlene was like a princess(((: very pretty in the maroon dress!(: hahahs. OHH. getting off the car when it drove into the foyer was extremely maluating! all the netballers were resting there. and suddenly, you appear out of an mpv wearing a dress and high heels. gosh:XXX hahaahs. anyway. i've never done that before, it was cool(:
got to NTU clubhouse something. and into the ballroom, and waited and waited for teh other schools to come. the buffet was okay, normal food. namreena has no fate with spoons and ladles. hahahas. she dropped the whole mee siam gravy ladle into the gravy. thrice. but. it was funny(; and soo NOT demure. hahahahhah! ate, had performances, cam whored. the thai students performance was like showcasing the different thai games they play thailand. cool(: hahaa. the dance performance by river valley, the last performance of the night, was like. stunning. i wanted to video it but couldnt turn my head for a second! hahhah!. really. good. ohh. goofing around when the principal and mrs sin werent looking included putting alot of jewelry on ms kuah!! BWHAHAHA. it was very very funny! hahahas. took many pictures with friends from TKG and SSSS and other schools too. like my 2 younger friends from thailand, pim (hahahaha same name!) and pop(: hahaahah!. both of them are really cute!:D ahhaas.ohh! and the whole step painting dropped on my 4th and 5th toe, thanks to vaish. hear me say this: VAISH IS DANGEROUS! SHE HAS SOMETHING AGAINST OTHER PEOPLE'S FEET!!!!!!! she stepped on my feet 4 times and dropped the 1kg painting on 2 toes such that the 4th one's skin burst open, and the 5th one had a purple bruise now(: how nice. ms ricca asked me to pound ginger and put on top. HMMMMM.haahahas.
did the SSSS school cheer with the teachers and the principal, and it moved us to tears, considering the fact that, this whole programme was going to end soon! waaah. i cried, we all cried, except audrey, cos we didnt want to leave each other the next day... i cried when pen cried. ahh, i'll miss pen alot!:/
25th june!
the saddest day of my life so far, i've never cried this much. leaving was very sad, and heart breaking. the morning was all left for getuk ubi and bor bor cha cha. hahaha, its fun cooking with ham(: hahahs! but the portions were too big, so me and aud went to treat linhui and weiling and many other people to a free recess!:D hahas. but. i think it tasted okay lah. cos very long never cook alr!:D hahahas.
the bus ride to changi airport was too fast... vanessa asked mrs sin to ask the driver to drive back to school and drive back again to the airport at 20km/hr. hahahah! lol. vanessa was saying, it wasnt long ago when we were on a bus, travelling that same route to changi airport to pick the students up. and 7 days later, they're going. it made some of our hearts very heavy.... okay, the next part may sound very loser lah okay. but. i cried 5 mins into changi airport. cos ms ingfa told me what ham told her.this was our conversation:
ms ingfa: does ham talk to you alot?
me: noo, cos i think her english isnt that good.
ms ingfa: ohh. you know what ham told me? she said, even though she doesnt talk much, she loves you, and your family alot, in her heart.....she just dont know how to express her love for you....
me: *CRIES LIKE SOME JURONG BIRD PARK WATERFALL. *
karen saw that, and started crying too. ham also, and the rest took the cue and WAAAAAAHHHH. pla was still a joker, she brought out her whole toilet roll! hahahah! she unrolled 1 whole wad of toilet roll and chucked it in my face. it made me laugh and cry at the same time, which looked pretty much mentally retarded. hahahas. they all checked in, while we cried and cried some more... lol. and we finally walked to the gates. gosh. it was horrible. i couldnt control the tears. they just came pouring out of my eyeballs, almost dragging my eyeballs with them. we all stood in 1 line at the gate, while we hugged all of them and sent them off. so many tourists were like: "why are they crying?" gosh. but. we all smashed ourselves flat on the glass screens crying and crying. it was so sad):
after that, we toned down a little, and said bye to the teachers. we headed for the toilet to wash up. and to macs for lunch. it was very unsuitable as we all had sore throats. blehhh. we saw bukit batok sec school there, and sat down to eat. chatting with the other TKGians helped alot to take much of the sadness away for a while. we shared secrets about step camp. ahhahahah! shhhh. and then me and karen left for tanah merah mrt station to go home. i slept from 3 to 5pm!D: hahah at night, i talked to the rest online. audrey and ms kuah. audrey said she slept from 3 to 8pm! lol. and i was like thinking so piggish! and then ms kuah said, she slept till 9 DDDD: hahah so i was like.... "that makes you(ms kuah) a........." she replied "a cute pig(:" hahahs lol!
we planned to have a farewell party for ms kuah and ms ricca on 19th july, cos they're leaving on the 18th july (PI:D) hahah. im mummy doesnt let me go out, then it'll probably be at my house:D hahahas.we'll make it great, and exclusively for the step students and teachers!:D wahahahhaha.
through out this camp,i've learnt alot of things. respect, teamwork, and leadership(: haha. i really had the time of my life! it was super fantastic:DDDD hahaahha. if i had a time machine, i would want to replay the whole experience all over again, however, not changing 1 bit. I LOVE THE STEPPERS AND THIS EXPERIENCE WILL ALWAYS STAY AS MY FONDEST MEMORY AT THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART! AND THE HEART OF MY BOTTOM!:DDDDDD hahahas.
now for a little poem that i wrote and got so many ppl fascinated.
